OJUKWU BUNKER,IPOB AND FIRE IN UMUAHIA.WHAT NEXT?

Umuahia is the Capital of Abia State,Nigeria.It is also the home state of
Nnamdi Kanu of IPOB.Abia is an oil producing state and part of the Niger Delta
politcal arrangement somewhat.It is supposed to be rich,but is poor.Not poor
in human capital but poor in managing its resources due to political brigandage,
godfatherism,empowerment of agberos and men of shady character in positions
of power.Salaries of workers may be withheld  for upwards of 7 months while
the powerful and "mighty,in their own eyes"gallivant and are always on"tour"
to the world"s major capitals in search of "investors".Investor ko,Aviator ni as our
Yoruba compatriots would say.Do not ask me where the foreign investors are.
Ask Governor Ikpeazu.Poverty is pervasive in the State.Youths are restive,
idle and are veritable tools available for use if the price or ideology is right.The
biggest industry in the State is Keke business.Almost everybody is into it.
Keke or the tricycle is the king of the Road in Abia.Articulated or trailer
vehicles make way for them.It is as interesting as that.That is Umuahia
and by extension Abia State for you.

The uneasy peace that pervaded Umuahia yesterday was shattered by an incident that was
a fallout of a confrontation between a soldier and a keke operator over a Biafra flag flown
by the keke man.Flying of all sorts of flags is commonplace for most of the struggling youths
of Abia.A soldier challenged,brutalized and humiliated the keke man according to eye witness
accounts.More soldiers rearing for action got involved and there was a staccato burst of gun shots
at Isigate Umuahia.The Chief Security Officer of the State i understand is yet to make a statement.
Isigate is a ten minute walk away from government House ,Umuahia.Ojukwu Bunker is another
10 minutes from Government House.

UMUAHIA,OJUKWU BUNKER AND A WAR MUSEUM.
The area now known as Abia is significant in thr war between the Biafrans and the Federal
side in the civil strife that raged between 1967 and 1970.It was at Uzuakoli, 16 Km from
Umuahia that General Babaginda got shot at by Biafran troops on the leg.His limp today and
his trip to France when he was Head of State to treat radiculopathy was as a result of this 
encounter where he narrowly escaped with his life.Uzuakoli also boasted of a major Research
Laboratory that helped in the giant scientific/technonogical strides made then.Some of those
feats recorded are on display at the War Museum,Umuahia.Biafran Engineers built the Ojukwu
Bunker,the Seat of Biafran Government when Enugu fell to Nigerian troops.See Photos of the

A SPARK BEFORE A CONFLAGRATION?
The Umuahia incident could have been a spark that could have ignited a bigger fire if it had not
died down the way it began.A blogger had gone to town with a distorted version of the incident.
He later took the story down when he got the true picture.There is great tension in the land over
the activities of the exuberant IPOB boys.AS more high tension is on, the boys have vowed to storm
Abuja in a 2 million man march in support of their shawl covering leader Nnamdi Kanu.

As more troops are drafted to the South East,the days ahead are dicey,pregnant.What shall be
delivered is unknown to mere mortals,only guesswork can suffice for now.May Peace with
honour and justice reign supreme.
