What a monumental judgement,a first in Africa where most leaders flout court
orders,physically assault judges and play politics with the judiciary.Was it not
late Idi Amin,former Ugandan dictator that executed a Judge who gave a ruling
against his government?.In Nigeria homes of judges have been ransacked by security
officials for alleged corruption.
A free judiciary translates to a better secure society,where everyone is equal
before the law.Police officers and other security agents are most likely to be more
humane and professional in an atmosphere of judicial independence.The election
in Kenya was said to have been electronically manipulated to assure a victory
for President Uhuru Kenyatta.
What lessons for Nigeria?
1.Get your acts together and display more mature behaviour.
2.Do not take sound judicial decisions personal.It is primitive behaviour
3.A nation that does not subscribe to the rule of law has no justification for its existence.
4.High handedness against law abiding citizens breeds anarchy and civil disobedience
