It is time the government of the day upgrades the operational efficiency of the Nigeria Police starting from the Police Station level.A visit to a police station in most towns in Nigeria would likeLY throw up the following:
- DILAPIDATED BUILDING
- LACK OF OFFICE FURNITURE
- BROKEN TABLES AND CHAIRS
- LACK OF WRITING MATERIALS
- NO SINGLE OPERATIONAL VEHICLE FOR PATROLS
- INADEQUATE TOILET FACILITIES
- DIRTY AND STINKING POLICE CELLS
- ISSUES ON THE SAFETY OF FIREARMS ON CHARGE AT THE STATION
We implore the government to do something about the provision of modern working tools to our police men and indeed to all other security outfits in the country.Whenever the issue of Police Reform is muted,the refrain is usually that the government does not have sufficient funds to execute it.Why cant we have a decent working enviroment for our officers and men.For a start the following should be provided at a police statio
- A decent and modest building
- A secure Armoury for arms
- Modest furnishings
- 3 operational vehicles
- Modern communicaion gadgets,walkie Talkies,Computers,VHF,UHF wireless communication.
- Government to give fillip to Community policing and serious consideration should be given to State Police.
